If your company is planning an international meeting then you need to select a translator responsibly and work competently with the translator.

1.    Choose a professional.

Do not spare when providing linguistic support for your event. Even consecutive interpretation has a number of difficulties, and an unexperienced translator can reduce all your efforts to collaborate with foreign partners to zero. Ask the translation agency for interpreter that is a specialist in the topic of your event.

2. Meet the interpreter in advance.

After a preliminary conversation (even if you have to pay for this time) you can make sure of the presentable appearance of the interpreter, be convinced of his/her ability to observe business etiquette and discuss some details of the event.

3. Provide the interpreter with the necessary materials.

This way, you will eliminate inaccuracies and ensure the fastest and most accurate translation.

4. Communicate with the interlocutor.

It is likely that in the first minutes of the conversation it will not be easy, but try to forget about the presence of the linguist. Experienced interpreters (unlike begginers) know how to sit properly next to the event participants, and you will learn to follow this rule quickly.

5. Do not hesitate to correct the work of the interpreter.

An international event is planned by you to achieve your own goals, so you may ask the interpreter to speak quieter or louder, faster or slower, to clarify if all aspects are clear to him/her.

6. Provide the participants of negotiations with an opportunity to have a rest.

Interpreting is a rather difficult activity and accumulation of fatigue can affect the quality of interpretation. If the program of the event provides for a large number of participants and permanent work of the interpreter, it will be wiser to attract several specialists.

7. Do not be in a hurry.

An experienced interpreter not only "translates" your speech into the language of your partner, but also "adjusts" to his/her manner of speaking and listening. A hurry can lead not only to the fact that the interpreter will make a mistake, but also to the fact that the partner will not perceive the information.
